In the JA Kashimoto branch including Yamaga City, about 500 farmers together grow 590 hectares of farmland, and harvesting and shipping has started on 18th.

Among them, at the farm of Keisuke Katayama (60) in Kikuka Town, Yamaga-shi, where five types of chestnuts are cultivated, the varieties now celebrate the harvest season.

While walking in the garden, Mr. Katayama gathered one by one with metallic scissors, which had grown big and fell from the branches one by one.

Katayama says "Although the amount is somewhat small, one by one is greatly produced correspondingly, and a good quality chestnut is made."

The chest that was harvested was brought to the selection site, after the person in charge divided it by size with a dedicated machine, it was sorting good ones.

According to JA Kamoto, this season, although the amount of fruit is somewhat less than usual, the growth is smooth, the quality such as the actual size and sweetness is satisfactory.

Chest harvest and shipping continues until the middle of October, and it seems that we expect to ship 360 tons, centering on processing materials such as confectionery materials.
