In a trial where a man from Aichi prefecture sought damages for being forced to pay "protection money" to the designated gang, Yamaguchi-gumi's boss, the Nagoya High Court, in the second instance, overturned the first instance judgment that had recognized the boss's statute of limitations defense. The court stated that "it is not permissible for the boss to claim the statute of limitations by taking advantage of the fact that the man did not seek compensation out of fear of the boss" and ordered a significantly increased compensation of over 7.5 million yen, compared to the first instance judgment.

In a lawsuit in Aichi Prefecture, a man demanded damages for being forced to pay a "protection fee" to the designated gang, the Yamaguchi-gumi. The Nagoya High Court, in its second-instance judgment, reversed the lower court's ruling which upheld the statute of limitations plea by the gang leader, stating that "it is not permissible for the gang leaders to take advantage of the fact that the man did not seek compensation out of fear of the gang leaders" and ordered an increase of over 7.5 million yen in compensation from the initial ruling.
