日本とASEANの特別首脳会議は、2日目の17日、安全保障や経済、それに人的交流など、テーマごとに各国首脳による本格的な討議が行われました。

そして海洋進出を強める中国の動向も念頭に、防衛装備品の提供や部隊の共同訓練など、海洋も含めた安全保障協力を推進していくことなどで一致しました。

また、核軍縮・不拡散やサイバーセキュリティー対策のほか、サプライチェーンの強化をはじめとした経済安全保障分野での連携も確認しました。

このほか、ことし50年を迎えた「日・ASEAN」の友好協力関係のさらなる発展に向けて、今後10年間で1000万人以上が関わる新たな人的交流プログラム「次世代共創パートナーシップ」を立ち上げることも申し合わせました。

さらに、ASEAN地域の脱炭素化やインフラの連結性強化、それにスタートアップ支援などとして、今後5年間で官民あわせて350億ドルの投資を図っていくことになりました。

そして、一連の討議の成果を共同声明や実施計画としてまとめ発表しました。

On the second day of the special Japan-ASEAN summit on the 17th, in-depth discussions were held by the leaders of each country on themes such as security, economics, and human exchange.

With the backdrop of China's increasing maritime presence, there was agreement to promote security cooperation including the provision of defense equipment and joint military exercises, encompassing maritime security as well.

In addition, cooperation in the field of economic security, such as nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, cyber security measures, and strengthening of the supply chain, was confirmed.

Furthermore, towards the further development of the 50-year-old friendly cooperation between Japan and ASEAN, an agreement was made to launch a new human exchange program called "Next Generation Co-Creation Partnership," involving over 10 million people over the next 10 years.

Additionally, there was a commitment to seek $35 billion in investment over the next 5 years, involving both public and private sectors, for initiatives such as decarbonization, infrastructure connectivity in the ASEAN region, and support for startups.

The outcomes of the discussions were summarized and announced as a joint statement and implementation plan.
