According to family members, in July of this year, Yu Dai Tomikawa (17), who attends a special needs school, underwent treatment to have his wisdom teeth extracted under general anesthesia at the "Sakai City Severe Disability Dental Clinic" in Osaka, Sakai City, and experienced a state of hypoxia.

The student was later transferred to another hospital, but did not regain consciousness and died approximately one month later.

According to documents submitted by the clinic to the family, at the time, the student had a tube inserted into his nose to deliver oxygen to his lungs to ensure breathing, but it is believed that the tube entered the esophagus instead of the trachea.

According to the family, the clinic acknowledged the mistake and apologized two days after the student was transferred to another hospital, but did not provide any specific explanations afterwards.

The police are considering the possibility of negligence resulting in death and are conducting a detailed investigation into the situation at the time.

The Sakai City Dental Association, which operates the clinic, has stated that they "cannot provide any answers."
